You know Grace, I'm going to risk sounding like a total creep as usual but another channel of serendipity popped through your newsletter YET AGAIN so here I go. I have been thinking a lot about feminine economies in the last couple of weeks, realising how many businesses and NP's here on SSI are run by women. I was wondering about what's out there in terms of guidance for this and boop, in comes your reading list and Jennifer Armburst. Thank you thank you thank you - as usual. Also, I want to hear about this restaurant space please.
“manufacturing abundance while holding the current reality.” << I appreciate others speaking to this experience so much. More than ever before, clients in my mental health practice are withholding the compassion they need to heal from themselves because they are privileged, because their needs and sufferings are petty in comparison to the heartbreak in the world and down the street. I don’t have good answers. It’s deeply challenging to consciously and responsibly walk in both a life of abundance and in the world.
This idea of withholding the compassion they need to heal from themselves because they are privileged is so interesting to me. It makes me think, where is a person spending most of their time? In their life and their body, or projecting themselves elsewhere, thinking of other's pain. And is there a balance to be found...or is it sort of impossible...
Aw, what a lovely way to inquire about this obstacle, one that for me immediately points to the quite new experience for humans to be able to visually project themselves to any suffering around the globe via the news and social media, and how this fosters a sense of dissonance and helplessness. We are wired to connect within small communities where we can do something, which is one big reason I myself aim to leave urban life to live in a rural community. We ache to belong tangibly to others.
In Alanon they talk about abundance not being an excess of everything, but having exactly what you need in abundance....that really helps me along these days.
This is just what I needed today. I feel so confused trying to comprehend what’s happening in the world while wanting to hold onto—and cultivate—the joy of my robust and vibrant life. Seeing this complexity reflected is a balm. Also: anything that frames creating on the cycle of pregnancy and birth is so sexy to me—I’ll read that ASAP.

Deeply not creepy!! If there is anything I would want this Substack to be, is the occasional catalyst for synchronicities.
Yes ~ I should have more concrete restaurant news soon!
Hope all is well, and see you on SSI in August!!
